Avatar: The Way of Water Tree of Life Awakening Show (2022) in Collaboration with Disney Imagineering
In the Fall of 2022, I was selected to work within a small team of artist from Lightstorm Entertainment Inc. and artists from Disney Imagineering's Live Entertainment Group to create a celebratory projection show on the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the release of Avatar: The Way of Water.
I worked on the opening sequence, creating layout and final animations for a variety of Pandoran wildlife. I also collaborated with the teams to design the lighting, environment set dressing, and bioluminescence placement and intensity to create a readable and engaging projection show.
I enjoyed working on this project because it tested my ability to create understandable creature animations within a 3D scene that also translated well when projected onto the textured Tree of Life. The creature's scale and spatial displacement to the environment was crucial in creating this layered effect. I utilized negative spaces when designing the creatures actions and biolum interactions to also assist with readability for the park audiences.
Ajax All Powerful: VR ANIMATED PROJECT (2020)
In 2019 after graduating that Spring from The Savannah College of Art & Design, I attended SIGGRAPH, Los Angeles and met Ethan Shaftel while waiting in line for the Experience Hall opening. We chatted and networked, going our separate ways to enjoy the rest of the convention. I was extremely pleased to get back in touch a few months after, with an offer to work on his next Virtual Reality project, AJAX ALL POWERFUL!
I joined the project as a 3D Animator and had the chance to animate a variety of fun characters, including Ajax himself. I was responsible for all of the News shots and Ajax's flashbacks to his previous souls- I mean, masters. I also animated Ajax's "Humane Soyuls" commercial.
I also worked on creating several illustrations used as textures or graphics within the film. All of the news graphics, the crazy textures Ajax adds to the conference room, and several images and textures within Ajax lamp living room were all digitally hand panted by me. Working on this project was very special to me because of the variety of work and characters I was able to create.
Ajax All Powerful premiered at The Tribeca Film Festival and screened at Annecy International Film Festival.
